THE DJS ARE HERE

Presenter

Mario Petrella

I made my debut on Radio 3 at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation. The show aired on a Sunday evening competing with Dallas on the local TV station. I remember being told that my listenership would be rather limited as the country used to come to a grinding halt, with viewers glued to their TV sets. I was pleasantly surprised that I got a good following. I am very passionate about being able to play good rock music In May 2016 I joined LM Radio where I presented the Early Breakfast Show on a Friday and also two more shows, on Saturday morning and early evening. I left LM Radio in March 2017.

Wildlife Journalist

Bruce Munro

I had a life of travel , twenty five years in aviation from bush flying to corporate to airline where I retired as a Captain. Then twenty five years as a tour operator and national guide on wildlife safaris around Southern Africa . Saw Southern Africa from the skies and then on the ground . Now happily retired on the East Coast with my Companion Mr Comet .

Surnames: How did they come about?

This fascinating subject was brought to my attention by a member trying to answer his granddaughter’s question on: Why do we have surnames? I thought it to be an interesting topic for our readers. There is a great deal of information on the net about this. I have selected, and put together, a brief explanation. Surnames originated primarily to uniquely identify individuals. As populations grew, communities became less stable, and […]
