Jeffrey Marcus was born in Mayfair, Johannesburg, and grew up in Orange Grove. He attended Orange Grove Primary and Highlands Boys High School before completing his national service at One Signal Regiment. He was later sent to Western Province Command and then attached to Western Province HQ. After the army he trained as a plumber while attending camps at Modderfontein Commando.
Today he lives in Cape Town with his two children. He serves on the MANCO of the Signals Association and is the Western Cape Chairman of the Jewish Ex-Servicemen’s League. He is also a qualified divemaster, has completed Lifeline training, and is a trained trauma counsellor who previously volunteered in that role at Sandringham Police Station in Johannesburg (he does not currently practise). In Cape Town he runs his business, Better Plumbing and Consulting.
