Reading Matters 21 January 2025 Sue Grant-Marshall
Fire by John Boyne, and Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann are the final two books in my Top Ten Books of 2024. Fire is the third of the four books that Boyne is writing about the elements, and the underlying theme is one of the complexities of abuse. Killers of the Flower Moon is an exceptionally well written true story of the American Osage Indians being systematically murdered because of their wealth.
My holiday was filled with books that included: Elif Shafak’s, There are Rivers in the Sky (Penguin), Alexandra Fuller’s Fi: A Memoir of My Son (Penguin), Niall Williams’ Time of the Child (Bloomsbury/Jonathan Ball), Tim Winton’s Juice (Picador), and Kevin Barry’s The Heart in Winter (Canongate).
All riveting reading.
