Reading Matters 04 February 2025

I interview authors, book editors, publicists and a book shop owner to find out what books they plan to read this year. They are: author and writing coach Mike Nicol; Kate Rogan owner of Love Books; book editor Alison Lowry; author and broadcaster Kate Turkington and book publicist Helen Holyoake.

I review that extraordinary author, Sally Rooney’s new book, “Intermezzo” which is a dream to read.  It’s a brilliantly written novel about the tempestuous relationship between two brothers and the women they love.

It’s World Read Aloud Day (WRAD ) tomorrow ie 5 February. Who will you be reading aloud to? Whoever it is will find life, even if only for half an hour, sweeter and more fun.  Additionally their brains will grow.
